The Best Kept Secret in Tahoe
Welcome to California’s only snowcat-accessed private backcountry ski area — 3,000 magical acres hidden in the heart of Tahoe where Pacific Crest Snowcats makes powder dreams come true.
Pacific Crest Snowcats operates up to two snowcats daily—each with two guides—for a total capacity of just 20 guests per day. A typical day starts at 8 a.m. with a discussion of safety and proper beacon use that includes familiarization with the snowcat, loading/unloading procedures, rescue scenarios and backcountry protocols.
Then we move on to 8 to 12 runs spread throughout seven distinctly different zones as we explore our more than 3,000 acres of reserved terrain. On average, our runs are between 1,000 and 1,200 feet in length with a few of our longer laps closer to 1,500 feet.
Most groups can expect over 12,000 vertical feet by day’s end…more than enough skiing or snowboarding to feel worthy of a cold beer on the ride back to the trailhead. The all-inclusive pricing includes avalanche beacon, backcountry protocol education, professional guide service, lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
