Lake Tahoe's West Shore is full of beautiful beaches. These are great spots to relax, take a swim or have a barbeque. Here's what you need to know to choose a beach that's right for you. Beaches are listed by location starting at Tahoe City and moving further South towards Emerald Bay.
Hurricane Bay Beach is located on Lake Tahoe's West Shore where local homeowners moor their boats in this beautiful bay. It's easy to spot and parking made simple since the road skirts along the shoreline with parking spots right off the main road. It's beach is made up of beautiful rounded stones, so it's a great beach if you don't want to get sandy.
Chambers Landing is a small public beach located between Homewood and Tahoma. Parking along the paved entrance road is the only public parking available. There are no services or BBQ grills, and dogs are required to be on leash. The beach is located near the famous Chambers Landing Bar & Grill.
Sugar Pine Point State Park is located 1 mile south of Tahoma on Hwy. 89. Depending on the water level, the beach can be a large beautiful sandy beach, or have more lake-edge than actual beach. Beautiful nature trails surround the beach where you can hike all the way over to Emerald Bay. Check out the Historic Ehrman Mansion, or sit on the pier. Rest rooms and picnic facilities availalbe for use. Parking fees apply.
Meeks Bay is located on Highway 89, 10 miles south of Tahoe City, adjacent to Meeks Bay Campground. The spectacular white sandy beach is one of Tahoe's most beautiful beaches. A boat launch, rest rooms, and picnic facilities are available for use. Day use fee applies.
D.L. Bliss State Park is located on Highway 89 between Meeks Bay and Emerald Bay with a large camping area. Beautiful sandy beach with picinic tables avaliable for use. Day-use parking fee, beach fee, and other use fees apply.
Emerald Bay Beach sits at the end of Emerald Bay near the historic Vikingsholm Castle with views of the only island in Lake Tahoe. It has limited parking and is accessible only by a one-mile, steep, sandy hike from the parking lot on Highway 89, or via a 4 mile hike from Bliss State Park. Has picinic tables and public restrooms.
