Tahoe City is a bustling town during the peak summer and winter seasons. The downtown area sits directly above the popular Commons Beach area in the heart of town and offers plenty of options for groceries, dining, shopping, and renting your gear.
From late spring through the first snow fall, Tahoe City is connected by a paved bike path that stretches from Dollar Point through down town, where you can stay and play or continue heading down the Truckee River towards Olympic Valley, home to the Squaw Valley Ski Resort. Or if you prefer some time on West Shore, you can ride across Fannie Bridge at the wye and make your way to Sugar Pine Point State Park, stopping at your favorite coffee shop or beach along the way.

Tahoe City offers two major grocery stores. Savemart is located at the stoplight when you first enter Tahoe City from Hwy 89, and Safeway is in the Lighthouse Shopping Center at the opposite end of town. The CVS Pharmacy and post office are also located at the Lighthouse Shopping Center.
Tahoe city offers five banking institutions: Plumas Bank (243 N. Lake Blvd), Bank of America (215 N. Lake Blvd), US Bank (705 N. Lake Blvd), El Dorado Savings Bank (740 N. Lake Blvd), and Bank of the West (150 W. Lake Blvd).
For medical assistsance, the Truckee Tahoe Medical Group is located at 925 North Lake Blvd. Burton Creek Veterinary Clinic is located at 2933 Lake Forest Rd. in Lake Forest.
